Evidence-based discussions in paediatric Anaesthesia
15 November 2017
Venue: Medical Education Centre, The Royal London Hospital
For 20 years we have held weekly journal clubs to discuss a current paper that has implications for our day-to-day practice in paediatric anaesthetics and critical care. These meetings, for consultants and trainees alike, have been forums for discussion with a direct impact on our guidelines and policies. Everyone is expected to read the paper before the meeting and the result has been high quality debates with attendees appraising evidence and questioning conclusions.
We would like to share our very successful journal club format with others and we are holding our inaugural open journal club meeting the morning after our annual education day. The half-day will consist of two presentations to set the scene followed by three journal sessions chaired by consultants who have experience in reading and presenting papers.
The three discussion papers are listed on the attached leaflet. It is important to read these to gain as much as possible from the discussions.
We hope that you will be enthused by the journal club format and enjoy the morning.
