Moorfields Eye Hospital

The clinical work at Moorfields is interesting and well supported by a friendly department in a great location in London. There are opportunities to gain skills in TIVA, paediatric anaesthesia, regional ophthalmic anaesthesia as well as pre-operative assessment clinics and clinical governance.  On call commitments are not demanding.

 

Spending 3 months at Moorfields is excellent as long as you know what to expect. Come with a plan to achieve things you might not be able to do during other busy rotations. Many people come to Moorfields while revising for exams. There is a great opportunity to achieve ‘back page’ CV projects through research / audit / conference posters and presentations.

Rota Details for Trainees

 

Number of trainees on rota

 

  • On average a (usually 3 from Barts/London & 2 from Royal Free/UCLH & 1 from Imperial)

 

On-call commitments

 

  • Weekday evenings: 1-2 per fortnight on average.

  • Weekend shift: 1-2 weekends in 3 months.

  • No night shifts.

Special Training Opportunities / Fellowships

 

  • Fellowship open to senior trainees for 6-12 months at a time
