BLSA Code of Conduct for the use of Social Media and Electronic Device Use

BLSA expects trainees using social media to be familiar with the GMC guidance on Doctors' use of social media [1] and the BMA document Using social media: practical and ethical guidance for doctors and medical students [2].  Breaches of these policies may result in disciplinary action.

BLSA would like to remind trainees that the use of electronic devices and social media whilst providing clinical care carries with it a risk of clinical negligence. This is highlighted in medicolegal cases from the UK and North America.

BLSA recommends photography and filming in clinical areas should only be done in accordance with local trust policy and the GMC guidance. For further information please contact Lucy Hamer.
